Looking around the bloggingweb, it seems that a lot of folks make some coin just posting angry things.
Gotta wonder if there’s anything to that. I’ve got anger. Well…frustrations.

Sorry. With school, launching the forums and all…this has sort of gone by the wayside.
I’ll do something about that. Promise.
My experience with Paul Davis has yet to improve by much. I finally got the walkthru with their assessor. He maintained the damage was not as extensive as the insurance adjuster said, but wanted to do more work in other areas. All I wanted to know was if we were covered and he assured me that we were.
I regaled him with the tale of my experience with the service of his company over the past few weeks, and the guy looked honestly shocked. (Shocked, I say) If he wasn’t, he faked it well.
He made assurances that he’d be in contact with us and that everything would be fine. He was quite honest when he told me they were really backed up when it came to rebuilds just because of the time of the year and all that good stuff. Once more, I told the man we didn’t mind if it was going to take extra time or get delayed, just as long as we were kept informed about what the heck was going on.
Well, that was last Tuesday…it’s now the following Monday. I’ve yet to hear from the guy.
*sigh*
Once more, I’m pleased that our insurance is covering us, but I’d really hate to think what kind of crap we’d be in right now if the house had been damaged so much as to be uninhabitable.
I know the “official” total for Milwaukee was closer to 20, but when I went out this morning with a yardstick, the total was just over 30 inches of snow.
30 inches in a little over 24 hours.
We were in and hunkered down all day yesterday, watching weather-porn on local news like it was vital information. My favorite bits were the captions under the hapless newsdrones out in the field. “It’s Snowing” read one, “The Snow is Here in Force” read another.
Jeebus I love local news.
The house is still torn up from the water damage. We’re rather disappointed with the Paul Davis company that’s been doing the work. They were great the night that it happened. They came out and set up everything great. After that, they’ve been a miserable company to deal with.
Not only have they blown off 3 appointments with us, but we didn’t know they were going to bail on us until WE called them. At any time it would have been easy for them to call and say, “Gee, we’re really backed up, can we reschedule?” Nope, we only found out after the appointments were blown.
Then we were outright lied to for one appointment. They set up a Thursday appointment with us, even called that morning, then claimed they “never” said Thursday, they meant Friday.
Whatever. We’ll not be using them for the rebuild, that’s for sure.
If you’ve a Paul Davis company in your area that you’re considering using for anything, think twice.

SO of course, Daddy stayed up with him all night.
It’s one thing when Thing One is sick, he’s nine and he sort of understands what’s going on. But when the Little Guy is sick it just breaks my heart. All I can do is be there and console him.
And watch Astro Boy, apparently.
Every half hour or so the poor guy would have to throw up. He couldn’t sleep because it kept waking him up. He didn’t cry or whine or anything, just sat there looking like the saddest little kid in the world. All I could do was hold him, get the bucket and clean him off.
Of course, Jodi has shows tonight and I’ll be with the boys by myself.
I’m hoping for a very quiet evening.
