SO of course, Daddy stayed up with him all night.

It’s one thing when Thing One is sick, he’s nine and he sort of understands what’s going on. But when the Little Guy is sick it just breaks my heart. All I can do is be there and console him.

And watch Astro Boy, apparently.

Every half hour or so the poor guy would have to throw up. He couldn’t sleep because it kept waking him up. He didn’t cry or whine or anything, just sat there looking like the saddest little kid in the world. All I could do was hold him, get the bucket and clean him off.

Of course, Jodi has shows tonight and I’ll be with the boys by myself.

I’m hoping for a very quiet evening.

Big Surprise…I don’t like Huckabee. OK, he scares me.

My favorite comment on the man comes from Daniel Miessler.

Dan has observed, as many of us have, that the farther along Huckabee gets, the more religious his speech becomes. Yes, I know the man is a minister and has a history with Jeebus, but early on in his efforts he didn’t make much of it. As he continues to pander to the Evangelicals, his speech becomes more and more laden with religious affectation. He knows where his votes are coming from and he’s speaking to those people.

On his victory in Iowa, Huckabee attributes his phenomenal rise in the polls to God’s divine intervention.

Good old Dan has noticed:

He didn’t just cross the line, he used it as a cockring.

Short, elegant and you understand just what he means.

Kudos, Dan.

Yes, Jeebus Almighty YES Bret is playing some amazing football. He’s got a solid-ish team behind him, and damnit…if he had another five years in them we’d be looking at the beginning of a freaking era…but facing the facts…

13-3 is a mighty impressive record…thru a really soft schedule. Don’t get me wrong, they had some really great games this season, but we got beat by the Bears…twice. Two games we really should have won. They had our number, we handed them the games.

And Dallas? Don’t get me started on Dallas. I hate the Cowboys just as much as the next guy, but the raw talent on that squad is just frightening. Romo ain’t the best, but he’s got a hell of a line to throw to.

I was hoping we’d play Washington next Sunday and up until the 4th…I thought that was going to happen. Nope, 22 points in the final quarter? 22 unanswered points? Yikes. Seattle is worked up. Mike knows how we play and H-Back looks like he’s got something to prove. You’d think Farve would have the same thing going on, eh?

No, Bret is playing because he loves the game. There is no other player in the NFL I like to watch as much as Farve, because damnit, he’s playing the game for the sake of the game. Win or lose, he’s out there having a good time. In a season like this it’s brilliant to watch.

But back to next Sunday. I will be floored if we can get past Seattle. Floored. If by some chance we manage it…the Cowboys or the Jags, eh?

Ouch. Tough call.

Noticing Obama’s speech last night…

I’ve seen a lot of footage of him speaking to black audiences and groups, and a lot of footage of him speaking to mostly white groups. Seeing him last night though, I noticed something: The pattern and style of his speech changes greatly depending on the group he’s talking to.

I’m not saying he’s the only one who’s done it, but for some reason last night it was quite striking.

It sounds (to me) like when he’s with a mostly black/African-American group, he’s got that Preacher patter. Just the way his tone and his pattern, it sounds a lot like Jessie Jackson or even MLK. I’m not trying to say he’s emulating or anything, but last night hearing him talk to his Iowa people, it was really striking.

-Yes, I’m still playing WoW. I don’t play as much as I used to but when I do I tend to enjoy it more. Shammys are wicked.

-I play more with the kids on the 360. Rock Band was a big hit this Xmas.

-As far as casual gaming goes, I’m playing more with my DS than anything else. Natch.

-Yep, still at the shop.

-Yep, still in school.

-Yep, Jo’s still overworked.

Mostly for me, but for those few folks who do read this tripe…yeah.

I can’t promise anything (don’t think I did before) but there’s that whole “fresh slate” thing staring me in the face and I might as well pick it up.
