Noticing Obama’s speech last night…
I’ve seen a lot of footage of him speaking to black audiences and groups, and a lot of footage of him speaking to mostly white groups. Seeing him last night though, I noticed something: The pattern and style of his speech changes greatly depending on the group he’s talking to.
I’m not saying he’s the only one who’s done it, but for some reason last night it was quite striking.
It sounds (to me) like when he’s with a mostly black/African-American group, he’s got that Preacher patter. Just the way his tone and his pattern, it sounds a lot like Jessie Jackson or even MLK. I’m not trying to say he’s emulating or anything, but last night hearing him talk to his Iowa people, it was really striking.

i’ve noticed the same thing, however i chalked it up to maybe just a quality inherent in good oration. so maybe they simply have that in common and sound similar, i might toss jfk in the list as well.
Could very well be, “tailoring the message” after a fashion.
OK, so it’s not just me.
You’re not the first to notice this. And, it’s not just Obama. In fact, Hillary *bragged* about doing it.

Frankly, this is called smart. The guy has the ability to move any audience to whom he is speaking. And, since he is both black and white, why not speak “white” to a white audience and “black” to a black audience?
