Does anyone know of a “central petition” one can sign voicing against inaugural celebrations or balls?
While Wisconsin is better off than many states currently, it still feels a bit Let-Them-Eat-Cake-ish to hold an elaborate, multi-day inaugural celebration when there are people homeless and starving in your state.
I voted for Doyle, but the money being spent on this ceremony could be put to much better use elsewhere.
I understand the new NY Gov. refused a celebration for pretty much this reason. Is that correct?

We are having the same issue here in Mass. The first elected Democrat in 16 years, running the race supposedly in the name of the little guy, and they are spending millions on parties tomorrow. While the funds raised are private rather than public, you still wonder why he could not have asked instead for donations to local food pantries and homeless shelters instead and just taken the oath instead.
