There is only so far I can take this particular argument, but it was an interesting one.
One of my co-workers points out that perhaps Studio 60 is bad on purpose. Much like SNL has been dying a long, slow, lingering death…maybe we’re supposed to feel the same way about Studio 60?
Much like the first couple seasons of The West Wing, where Bartlet is pretty much crippled by polls and not wanting to do anything “too liberal” (Until Leo comes up with “Let Bartlet be Bartlet”), maybe we’re suppose to see this team get to a turning point where they realize that everything they’ve been doing is useless, utter crap…and then they make a huge turn-around.
Mind you, I don’t truly buy into this, but looking at Sorkin’s other efforts, it would fit a general patten he seems to fall into.
Still, I cannot buy the “Harriet Has Talent” bullshit at all.

I don’t buy it. The show is filled with people praising Matt and Danny about the amazing job that they are doing. The ratings are up, and they are holding their audience.
I just watched last night’s show. It was much better. Not perfect - some of the script is just not believable; I just don’t think that these people would have some of these discussions with each other. Still, it might be that staying away from the mechanics of the show within the show is enough to save this show. Though it may be too late already.
Sarah Paulson still just doesn’t do it for me, though.
It’s still not thrilling me.
Man, it just keeps getting worse.
“Are you crazy about me? Or just crazy?”
As far as how I feel about this show, my answer is, “neither.”
