[Bush] lied when he said: “Massive deportation of the people here is unrealistic – it’s just not going to work.”
Not only will it work, but one can easily estimate how long it would take. If it took the Germans less than four years to rid themselves of 6 million Jews, many of whom spoke German and were fully integrated into German society, it couldn’t possibly take more than eight years to deport 12 million illegal aliens, many of whom don’t speak English and are not integrated into American society.
I can’t make this shit up.

As surprising as it is to read that, it’s perhaps more surprising that my second reaction is that I am not actually surprised after all. At least one of these reactionaries is being honest rather than making up a reason that will seem more legitimate.
If we are truly serious about stopping illegal immigration - let’s pass a law that makes it a felony for a corporation’s leaders to hire illegals. If the INS finds even one illegal alien working for a company, then the CEO and the members of the board of directors get charged with a felony crime. And make the punishment huge - 5 years in prison or something.
So even if, say, some small subsidiary farm hires an illegal migrant to pick crops, and it turns out that the farm is ultimately a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland - the ADM CEO and Board get indicted for a felony. Even if they can prove that they had no knowledge of the hire, it does not matter - senior management is responsible for all hiring practices. I model it after the drug laws - make it illegal to possess, but really slam the book at the people who are actually making money on the illegal activity.
Sure, there will be companies that will continue to try to get away with it, but at least there will be some who stop it in a heartbeat.
Of course, that’s only if you are truly serious about stopping illegal immigration… personally, it does not bother me as much as it seems to bother others.
I could not say it better than Doog in the coment above. Prosecuting companies for their hiring practices could become a great source of revenue, but as he says, it is not really such a social ill, maybe just a little something to please the rednecks Mick http://rockwatching.wordpress.com
