Been watching Japanese Pocky commercials this morning.
That is all.
Justice League Unlimited just keeps getting better and better. They even co-opt the stories I read as a kid in really cool ways.
I’ve not often been moved to not to use a product or service because of a commercial…but as of late Tri-City Bank of Milwaukee has been airing a series of odd, theatre exercise ads that annoy the ever-living hell out of me.
They consist of a man and a woman, wearing contrasting back and white outfits, each standing in front of a contrasting background panel to offset their costumes.
They “riff” on positive words associated with the bank…on and on…and on.
Aside from the fact they simply make me want to ascend to the bell tower with a sniper rifle, the actors they got for the ads (all locals, most of whom I know) are simply horrible with the material. Granted they don’t have much to work with, but it’s almost as if some washed-up local director conned the bank into giving him a ton of cash; which he then absconded with to Thailand and spent on manboy whores. The remaining $200 went towards these spots.
Josh knows what I’m talking about. I can almost taste the bile rising in his mouth when the ads air.
Yes, you could have done that better.
-Perhaps it was because my coffee and mescaline hadn’t kicked in this morning, but while watching “Baby Loony Toons” with my son, I was struck by the prevalence of homo-erotic overtones in the cartoon.
That’s some pretty frustrated S. Korean animators right there.
-Listening to NPR this morning, a report out of Texas. A man who was driving well in excess of the speed limit, and while having a blood alcohol level well in excess of legally drunk, hit and killed two 19-year-old women. His Ford SUV rolled over in the accident, and he was remarkably unharmed.
A jury returned a $3 million verdict against Ford in the accident! The jury claims the accident was “90% Ford’s fault and 10% the driver’s fault.”
