Does anyone else remember Cricket magazine? I used to love reading it as a child. Something about it just felt special for some reason, like it was just there for me.

As soon as it came, I’d grab it and a large glass of milk and hide in my closet. I’d read it once cover to cover, and then when it was time for bed, I’d put it under my pillow so I could read it again after “lights out”.

It would come with me to school for a few days, and I’d read it during lunch for about a week.

They got a special place on my shelf when I was finally done with it.

I should get Ben a subscription.

  1. I remember Cricket. I always liked it, too, but I didn’t have a subscription. I had Chickadee, which I didn’t read, and killid the subscription, Highlights, which I didn’t read, but my sister did, and 3-2-1-Contact, which I read cover to cover.

There’s a cool Smithsonian (I think) magazine for kids which Ben would like. Every month is a new subject which they do cover to cover. I saw it at the dentist’s office. One was Samurai, and the other was Volcanoes. Jonathan really dug the volcanoes.

  2. I remember it! Or do I? Now, I can’t be sure.
