…I have hope.
But at this point, we beat the Yankees. That’s almost as good, if not better in some ways.

While I am enjoying the moment, I am certainly doing so in a very sober was. Our team has exorcised one particular demon, but there is another left to go, and some history with the Cardinals franchise as well. There is still work to do.
By the way, the definition of a Red Sox fan with a long memory is that, with two outs in the ninth and a seven run lead, breath was held until Pokey caught that grounder, until Pokey fired accurately towards first base, until Mientkiewicz caught that throw (and one verified that his foot was properly located on the bag), and breath was finally expelled when the umpire’s arm went up to signal the 27th out. This is the how a Red Sox fan watches a big game like this. Let us hope that one day, in my lifetime, we can watch such an ending in a slightly more relaxing way.
