I’m getting into the swing of things with the warehouse. There’s just so much in the way of “little stuff” that you don’t really associate with the job that keep popping up. Nothing tragic or job-altering, but they put a crimp in things all the same.

We hired a new young lad for the shop proper. I know him and he’s always been a nice kid. I guess I’m a little bothered by the fact that we’re filling up the front of the shop like this, “forcing” me to stay in the back, but I started thinking about the overall position.

In a lot of ways, the warehouse job is more family friendly. My schedule is pretty much my own and I can come and go almost as I please. I’ve also been told (more than once) that there’s “more money” to be made in the warehouse position. Mind you, the money isn’t the primary factor in all of this, but it’s a nice bonus to the work.

That really does not sound right for some reason.

Anyway, I can work at my own pace, by myself, listen to liberal radio all day…it’s not all that bad in that respect.

I feel like I’m trying to talk myself into the position on some level. In reality, it could solve some other issues that I have at the shop. No matter if I do the shipping or someone else, I still get called on for customer service. If I were to do it, I know the level of service people are getting to begin with. Also, I know the system going into the position, and getting someone new means training from the ground up…again, something I would need to do.

OK, so now I’m rambling.

  1. I understand the “family friendly” perk. I really like most of my job and that is a big perk, being able to do my own scheduling, at least 95% of the time.

  2. Reading between the lines I’d say keep looking for a warehouse guy, and don’t get stuck in there. You don’t seem all that excited about it, that’s for sure.
